WALK

i like to walk where there is no
things, - grass, dirt, empty fields, i like
but there are always edges
borders where people growl, play
touch football, run dogs, chase
balls
but the empty is there
in the quilted edge of itself
green and brown and trees
around
sky overhead, sun beaming
thru a few clounds, the mountains
step by step by step
calm

"one steamboat, two steamboat,
three steamboat, four ..."

bending

bending down to pick up a elastic band
or not
my eye catches a racial slur
or is it
on the park bench beside me
African and Asian slurs
with two purple lines through it

pause, my head snaps back
the elastic band in my hand
i read
next to it
olivia waz hur
second looking at the slur, notice it says
I
before it

question - so is it
self identification
self mutilation
self degradation
self denial
selfish

or not

seemingly haphazard

Seemingly haphazard

seemingly haphazard but nothing happens BUT FOR a reason
i stepped over a ladybug, watched many more bugs, wings,
dread beat beating in my wings
wings concealed until they fly
to find aphids to eat, ahhhh ladybug galore
crawling settling from flight
the slightest little motion
air
light
soil
plants and wind intersect
abuzz
seeming erratic
we know not
rearrange

it's complex

it's complex
or some say
complicated
especially with dreams
but nevertheless important
the trucks in the alley are taking away the sorted recycle
to where I do not know, but I know my dream
was about having to take a Math test over
and there were lots of things I could not find, bear with me...
i could not find out how I had done before, like what mark I had got on the
previous exam.
I assumed that it was a failure, but I wasn't sure, so I tried to find the class for the summer,
or information about how or what I was supposed to do, like summer school.
People were crowded together, like a subway at rush hour, surging into and out of passageways.
No one seemed to know anything. I felt like giving up.
It felt like the whole thing had happened before, for me and all these people around me.

And it had.
I just left before, and now I was going to leave again.
But no.
I wasn't. I was dreaming and I could do something about it.
At least this.

the alley is quite now
I could see myself
in the dream and as the dreamer
I can do this

almost in the dark

almost in the dark
the man cleans out all the weeds at the curb

Tomorrow I'll walk by, remembering how he stooped
and tugged & pulled the plants - some weeds -
can't be pulled
weeds can be used for something
like every plant, every tree, everything
(even you and me)

What is their use, his tugging?
pulling him as he pulls them

his handsslap together to get rid of
the grit
slap slap slap slap
slaaaap
grit falls as he walks away

towards the beach
the beach tugs him into the moving
pile he is

and then roars
roars roars
roars

how much can be done?

murder most foul
killing of innocents
wrong wrong wrong
the bell tolls, the dream passes with a jolt, waking
from one grave, another deeper grave, how shall we
celebrate
sacrifice with a wrongful conviction night DAY
dream daze, suffering deeply for the mothers, the parents, the fathers that were not there, but they remember and reach out
how much can be done in a dream?
waking is living, keep researching, learn
the alphabet sof peace, of crime, of love
undying

running jogging
Going into a house at the start of the trail and having
Two bags there
A big round one – I saw my dad's shoes in there when we were going
And a smaller one
Changing shoes
Four people
My dad. Marguerite or Al or fred or Nava,
Saw her clearly brushing her teeth
When we were packing up to leave, the travel glass in her hand, with water in it

two others
Maybe my mom
And quiet Susan
And really running down the trail far
Seeing the trees on the sides like
Larkspur.. Eucalyptus
The leaves on the ground
Going way from, the distance
Turning back as a decision, is it time, can we go farther

Whose house
Just a place where we stopped
A family let us put out bags there until we ran
Ran for exercise
Ran for a purpose

My dad had gotten permission for the use of the hose, water running,
like for brushing teeth
And the mystic of how far to go
Because it is double back,
Otherwise they could catch up with us, if it was on the way 'home'
Not really home, but on our way

A camper
van, the bags in back, nosing around and out of the
road by the stream
by which we ran
making up for sitting so long in the van
sensible motion, in somewhere in nowhere
we ran
surprising feet, feeling better when we
would sit

DREAM!1

almost impossible to recall more than a few fragments at first friend chris and was that paris and the four of them took the limo from me, even the champain, and i started walking thru back alleys,

there was the whole thing about the art installation

red framed pictures, framed at weird angles, red on red, and bent

but the alleys were connected zigzaging back and forth away from the street

hurrying, trying to get to class ontime,

and also before the limo would get there, to show them, looking for a way to get to the road where there were taxis, and really interesting

back doors, porches, entrances to houses, but not to the main road which I could hear was

just on the other side of the houses

o i had to go, so i found this corner, and as i approached it i woke up

i woke up

bin reading livesay dorothy and sister prejean

after dead man walking i was glad to see

i got a lot more to say
here's my silence

sudden movement behind the compost bin

there was a sudden movement behind the compost bin
i noticed it when i was looking at the bees hovering
over the pear boughs
i remembered the extension courses advertised about the bees
and beekeeping courses that made me gladder
and
out of the corner of my eye
it looked like a deer behind the compost bin
then it wasn't there
but i got a whole rush of information
rapid data input faster that i can read
and i can read fast with the training
